Steller's Jay

This little painting was my contribution to last year's Portrait Society of America 6x9 Mystery Sale.  Here's how the Society describes this event:

"6 x 9: Limited Size – Unlimited Talent: A Mystery Art Sale"
"Back by popular demand, this program features 6x9" panels painted by previous award recipients, faculty, and other nationally known artists. Attendees have the opportunity to purchase, at a prix fixed price, a piece of art they love, the artist's name is revealed after the purchase."

Sheep Barn in Snow

This sheep barn is just a short walk from where we live.  I anticipate painting it in all weathers and times of day -- and sometimes I'll include the sheep.

Mossy Tree

As I was driving along the road one wintry morning, I saw this tree illuminated by the first rays of the sun and I just knew I had to paint it.

Pacific Madrone

I pass by this madrone tree every day on my way to and from my studio.  When it is illuminated by the afternoon sun it never fails to stop me in my tracks.

Portrait of Charlie Brown

This is Charlie Brown (so named by my 6 year old grandson).  He is the guardian and protector of a brood of chickens and he takes his job seriously.  When he struts around he is very impressive - and I think he knows it.

Rabbit in Snow

Langley, Washington is known for its rabbit population that runs freely around town.  (A few years ago there was a "prison break" at the county fair and several rabbits escaped.)  On the day after our white Christmas, I observed this little rabbit just outside my studio window.

My Granddaughter

One of the sweetest portrait subjects ever.
(Just my unbiased opinion.)
