California Road Trip - Part Two

Two more sketches from the road trip up Highway One from Santa Barbara to San Francisco.

The jacaranda trees were in full bloom in Santa Barbara.

One of the highlights of the trip was the McWay Falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur.

And now we're home and it's back to work in the studio!

California Road Trip

My wife and I are on a road trip up Highway One in California.  I've brought my watercolors along and have made a few sketches on the way.  There's so much beauty here it's hard to take it all in!

My watercolor travel kit.

One of our first stops was Santa Barbara and I was fascinated by much of the architecture in this beautiful town.

"Santa Barbara Courthouse"   8" x 10"   Watercolor

I sketched on Moonstone Beach in Cambria.  If you look closely you can see several harbor seals resting on the rocks to my left.

Here's a close up of the seals.  The one on the right kept a watchful eye on me the whole time!

More sketches to come...
