"Japanese Garden"   12" x 9"   Oil

This painting was done on location at the Fort Worth Japanese Garden - a beautiful sanctuary within the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens.  Deb and I enjoy visiting often, except when the thermometer reads 100 degrees, which it has for the past 30 + days!  (Below is the front page of yesterday's paper).  

A great blue heron stopped by while I was working, but he didn't stick around long enough for me to include him in the composition.  I think this boy got a little too close for comfort!

"Autumn Dancer" Travels To Idaho

"Autumn Dancer"   30" x 20"   Oil

I am honored that my painting, "Autumn Dancer," has been accepted in the 2011 Oil Painters of America National Juried Art Exhibition.  Each year this show is held in a different art gallery around the U.S., and this year Devin Galleries in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho is hosting the event from June 9th until July 10th.

My wife and I first saw the Sakura Dance Group at last year's Fall Festival at the Japanese Garden, and were impressed by the beauty and grace of the dancers in the glow of the afternoon sunlight.  I photographed them again at the recent Spring Festival and plan to do more paintings.  Thank you Mallory-san.
