I very much appreciate you posting this, James. Though I don't paint portraits, there was still much to learn from your voice-over and images. For me, the main takeaway was to be less stingy with paint. Your emphasis on cleaning the palette and mixing more paint kept the colors clear. Too often, I try to preserve previous mixtures while creating new ones. No palette is large enough to keep them from colliding...
