I've recently returned from the Portrait Society of America Annual Conference held this year in Atlanta. There were over 700 people in attendance for this inspiring four day event. One of the highlights of the conference was the Mystery Art Sale. Over 100 artists were invited to submit a 6"x9" painting on panels provided by the Society. At the appointed hour, all the panels were unveiled and buyers had 15 minutes to view the paintings. After that, the buying frenzy began!
Here's how the Portrait Society describes it:
"6 x 9: Limited Size – Unlimited Talent: A Mystery Art Sale"
"Back by popular demand, this program features 6x9" panels painted by previous award recipients, faculty, and other nationally known artists. Attendees have the opportunity to purchase, at a prix fixed price, a piece of art they love, the artist's name is revealed after the purchase."
This painting was my contribution to the art sale and I found out later that it was purchased by the talented Nicole Moné (great name for an artist!). I was pleased to know that my little brown cow went to such an appreciative buyer.
"Little Brown Cow" 6" x 9" Oil |
All paintings were priced at $250 and 127 paintings sold in 32 minutes! Proceeds benefit the Portrait Society of America scholarship programs.
Your little brown cow is magnificent, James. A lot of majesty on a 6 X 9 canvas.
ReplyDeleteWhen Matthew Innis featured all the paintings on his Underpaintings blog, I guessed this one was yours!
