Fort Worth Fall Gallery Night 2012

Paula Kornye Tillman and Kelli Cotten have worked hard to put together a great show for Gallery Night at Galerie Kornye West.  Gallery artists have been asked to provide a couple of new paintings and Paula has invited seven artists from around the country to exhibit their work as guests for this show.  Here's a map of all the venues that will be participating in this popular event from 2:00 to 9:00 tomorrow, September 8.  See you there!

"A Year In Fort Worth" - The Show

Gallery Night has come and gone and I have so many to thank for making it such a memorable evening.  First of all I thank Paula Kornye Tillman - for such a great idea for a project, for having confidence in me to accomplish the task and for all the time and effort she put into making the show a success.  I thank Kelli Cotten at Galerie Kornye West for her tireless work on my behalf (and she took these photos.)  I also thank everyone who encouraged me along the way and those who were able to come to the gallery on Saturday.  I was touched by so much support from family and friends.  Thank you all!

Gallery Night!

Fall Gallery Night is this Saturday from 2 to 9.  I hope to see you at Galerie Kornye West, on the corner of Camp Bowie and Clover Lane in Fort Worth.  New this year is the People's Choice Award.  Visit the gallery Friday September 9 through Saturday, September 10 to cast your vote for your favorite painting.  Some lucky artist will be awarded a cash prize!  : )

If you come to the gallery on Saturday you can also step across the street to Winslow's Wine Cafe to meet some of the Texas Ballet Theater dancers and see my ballet paintings.

I'm currently working on a couple of paintings of Texas Ballet Theater dancers.  The larger painting is just about finished and I've started the smaller one that I also hope to complete in time to display on Saturday for Gallery Night.

"Roger" Finds A Home

Thanks to all of you who were able to come to Galerie Kornye West on Saturday for Gallery Night -- it was great seeing you!  For those of you who couldn't make it, I want to show you the finished painting of Roger, which you may have seen in progress in a February post.  Although these Fort Worth paintings I'm working on throughout 2011 are for next year's Spring Gallery Night, "Roger" was on display Saturday night as a preview of things to come.  I'm happy to say that this painting has been pre-purchased by a local art collector who has graciously agreed to loan it to us for the show next spring.

Fort Worth Spring Gallery Night

"Rosa"   36" x 24"   Oil

"Rosa" is another in my series of Ballet Folklorico dancers that I will be showing on Gallery Night at Galerie Kornye West tomorrow.  Twice a year, in the Spring and in the Fall, many Fort Worth art galleries participate in this popular event, where food and drinks are served and hundreds of people come to view the artworks on display and to meet many of the artists.   I plan to be at the gallery from 5:00 to 9:00 --  hope to see some of you there!

It will be a year from now, on Spring Gallery Night 2012, when I will be showing "A Year in Fort Worth" --  the collection of all the paintings and sketches that I worked on during 2011.

"Rosa" travelled to New York City earlier this year to be shown at the Salmagundi Club's Annual Exhibition and I was honored that they used my painting on their poster to announce the show.

"Mariposa"

"Mariposa" will be on display at Galerie Kornye West for Spring Gallery Night in Fort Worth next Saturday, March 26, 2011.  This painting is one of a series of oils and watercolors I'm working on of dancers from the Ballet Folklorico Azteca de Fort Worth.

In preparing to paint this, I first made the two studies below -- a watercolor and then a very rough color study in oils.
