Oregon Vacation
My wife and I have been vacationing for the last couple of weeks on the Oregon coast. There is so much beauty to be seen at every turn! I brought my watercolors along but we've been so busy enjoying the experience that I haven't painted very much. Here are a couple of paintings - the first of several from an Oregon series, I predict.

These are striking studies. I look forward to the Oregon series. It's heartening to hear someone else doesn't get much painting done when traveling. I almost have to be traveling alone, with the express purpose of painting, to get much done. If we are somewhere new to us -- and time always seems limited -- my wife and I are usually too interested in seeing more of the area than having me stay put to paint.
ReplyDeleteI've asked about your paper preference for watercolor in the past. I would have guessed you'd be using a block of Arches 140 pound but it appears you might have a Stillman and Birn sketchbook. Do you mind saying what it is? Thanks.
Thank you, Steve! I've been using the Pentalic Watercolor Fieldbook. (I paint on the back side of the sheet because I like the texture better.)
DeleteThanks, James. I have one of the Pentalic sewn books, but not the spiral bound. We're headed to Bhutan in a few weeks. I'm planning to try one of these, in a smaller size, 7 x 10 -- increasing the odds I'll cover the blank pages!
