The Color Sketch

Before beginning a larger painting I usually take a few minutes to paint a color sketch.  This quick study helps me determine a color and value scheme.  I suspect that some people might prefer these loose paintings to my finished ones but alas, I enjoy accurate drawing and detail too much to leave them at this stage.  Here are a few examples of these sketches and the finished works.

"Trio"   24" x 48"   Oil

"The Andalusian"   36" x 36"   Oil

" 'Fishing Hole' Garden Sculpture"   30" x 20"   Oil

"Duet"   36" x 24"   Oil
