"Juneteenth" at The Salmagundi Club in New York

"Juneteenth"   19" x 12"   Watercolor

I received a phone call yesterday from the Salmagundi Club in New York, saying my painting "Juneteenth"  has won the Margery Soroka Memorial Award at the 128th Annual Member's Exhibition. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Below are a couple of details from the painting.  One thing I enjoy so much about watercolor is the way the colors flow together and "happy accidents" occur.  I always feel out of control when I paint a watercolor - and that's probably a good thing.

  4. James, all your paintings are incredible but your watercolors are just exceptional. Somehow you "capture" the spirit of whatever you are painting and transport us. They are just beautiful Congratulations on the award.
